We're partnering with a school district in Melrose Park, Illinois to hire a dedicated Special Education Teacher - Resource Room for the 2026-2027 school year . In this role, you'll provide targeted, individualized instruction to students with diverse learning needs in a resource room setting while collaborating closely with general education teachers to support student success. You'll help students strengthen academic skills, build confidence, and increase independence through individualized, evidence-based instruction.
Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction in a resource room through small group and individual lessons. Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to meet students' unique learning needs. Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and teaching strategies to support academic growth. Monitor student progress, collect data, and adjust instruction based on student performance. Collaborate with general education teachers to implement accommodations and modifications in the classroom. Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations. Foster a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and independence. Communicate regularly with families, school staff, and related service providers regarding student progress. Support students in developing organizational, executive functioning, study, and self-advocacy skills. Implement positive behavior supports and classroom management strategies as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field. Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 endorsement (or eligibility to obtain). Experience developing and implementing IEPs in a school setting preferred. Knowledge of
IDEA, IEP
compliance, and evidence-based instructional practices. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
