This part-time, district-wide contract opportunity begins August 10, 2026, offering the chance to work collaboratively with a supportive school community near Melrose Park, IL. Use your expertise to support students of varying ages and skill levels, empowering them to reach their highest potential. Youll play a vital part in fostering an inclusive educational environment where students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing thrive academically and socially.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
Hold Illinois state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Previous experience working in K-12 school settings Strong understanding of Deaf culture, language development, and assistive technologies Ability to adapt curriculum to meet individual student needs Skilled in collaboration with general education staff, families, and related service providers Effective communicator to serve as both instructor and advocate
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement tailored instructional strategies for students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing Evaluate students academic progress and adjust supports as needed Consult with teachers and staff on best practices for inclusive classroom environments Support IEP (Individualized Education Program) development and progress monitoring Provide resources and training to staff and families on communication modalities and technology Foster positive, supportive relationships with students and encourage self-advocacy This is an exciting opportunity for educators passionate about making an impact district-wide.
