Category Schools - Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist Job Type Contract Take on a rewarding position supporting students as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist and Teacher. This contract opportunity offers flexibility, with both part-time and full-time schedules considered. Key Qualifications:
Certified or credentialed to teach students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Experience working within K-12 educational environments is preferred Proficiency in using American Sign Language (ASL) and augmentative communication tools Ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with staff, parents, and students Commitment to creating inclusive, accessible classroom environments
Responsibilities Include:
Delivering direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Adapting curriculum, classroom materials, and assessments to ensure accessibility Participating in IEP meetings, goal setting, and progress monitoring Consulting with general education teachers and staff to promote accessibility and successful integration Providing advocacy and guidance to empower students academically and socially Fostering an encouraging, communicative atmosphere within the school community Candidates who are passionate about accessible education and innovative teaching are encouraged to apply.
