9679515-60098 Job Description Make a difference supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a welcoming school environment near Woodstock, IL. This full-time, contract position covers the entire 2026-2027 school year, providing the opportunity to work closely with students, families, and educational teams to foster an inclusive, accessible learning experience.
Desired Qualifications:
State teaching licensure/certification with an endorsement in Visual Impairment (or eligibility to obtain) Previous experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments Strong knowledge of assistive technologies, Braille, and adaptive strategies for accessibility Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills Commitment to ongoing professional development related to visual impairment education
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with visual impairments Assess student abilities and adapt curriculum materials for optimal accessibility Consult regularly with general education staff, families, and related service providers Develop, monitor, and update IEP goals and instruction plans Advocate for student needs, fostering increased independence and confidence in the classroom Provide training and support for staff on vision-related accommodations and best practices Utilize and support use of appropriate assistive technologies to maximize student engagement Maintain thorough documentation in compliance with special education regulations This role is well-suited for passionate educators eager to empower visually impaired students throughout the academic year.
