Key Qualifications & Experience:
Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility for Indiana licensure) Strong understanding of auditory and language development principles Experience using a variety of communication modalities (ASL, oral, total communication) Effective collaboration skills with teachers, related service providers, and families Commitment to creating inclusive, supportive classroom environments Previous school-based experience preferred but not required
Position Responsibilities:
Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) aligned with best practices for deaf/hard of hearing students Provide direct instruction in language, literacy, and communication tailored to diverse student needs Collaborate with general educators to ensure access to curriculum and accommodations Consult with families and staff to promote understanding and advocacy for students' needs Support the adaptation and use of assistive listening and communication technology in the learning environment Maintain student records and progress documentation in compliance with school and legal requirements
