Special Education Mild Intervention- Elementary Apply Full time
    School City of Hammond Description General Role and Responsibilities:
    Develop curriculum to meet developmental goals and instructional activities Use procedures to post syllabus, projects/lessons, and grades to the server accessible to students, parents, and the community Maintain a classroom environment consistent with established codes of conduct and conducive to positive learning Use rubric-based authentic assessment methods to evaluate student progress and adapt individual programs to meet student needs Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff Measure progress and accomplishments of students towards their academic achievements on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required Communicate electronically with students, parents, and other staff members concerning student academic progress, attendance, and behavior Serve as a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team in determining the appropriateness of special education services Attend conferences and workshops in order to further advance professional development Work cooperatively with other personnel to improve instructional programs and the overall operation of the school Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the classroom and on the school campus Perform other duties as assigned.

Specific Responsibilities in
    This Position:
    • Perform all other duties as assigned Specific Skills and Knowledge for this position:
    • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google, etc
    • School City of Hammond Student Information System software
    • Knowledge of Special Education laws, policies and procedures, Article 7 and IDEA
    • Ability to work well with students with disabilities
    Qualifications and Education Requirements:
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited university Must hold valid Indiana State Teacher's License or be eligible for a license for corresponding age/grade level Certification in Mild Intervention and /or Intense disability area (MI, MO, ED, SLD) Knowledge of IIEP system Highly developed oral and written communication skills Ability to build relationships effectively and professionally with families and students Experience developing and implementing curriculum Physical ability to handle frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and moving throughout the room Proven ability to maintain a safe and studious classroom environment Demonstrated ability to develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum
