The Gibbs School is looking for an enthusiastic educator to join our team for the 2024-2025 School Year.
Job Goal:
Responsible for planning instruction and curriculum modifications for students with special needs in the small group and inclusion setting that allow students to meet high standards and success in typical settings.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide direct instruction to students, both within the general education classroom and outside the general education classroom. This includes planning and teaching along with the general education teacher in an inclusive general education setting. 2. Plan and modify general education curriculum. 3. Consult with general education staff and related service providers. 4. Monitor student progress in general education program. 5. Develop IEP, determine goals and objectives. 6. Prepare progress reports. 7. Organize and chair Team meetings and other meetings. 8. Administer testing for evaluations and end of term/end of year reporting. 9. Maintain contact with parents. 10. Attend building learning team meetings. 11. Direct the work of teaching assistants. 12. Perform other tasks as assigned by Building Principal and/or Special Education Administrator. Salary and Benefits are consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association. The Salary Schedule is on our website. Salary placement is based on Education and Experience. Arlington has a well-established new teacher induction program with mentoring throughout the school year. The first official work day in the 2026-2027 school year will be August 31, 2026. However, new staff are required to attend several days of orientation and training during the last two weeks of August.
