Long-Term Substitute Maternity Leave Coverage Postion Overview Danvers Public Schools is seeking a skilled and collaborative Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher to provide maternity leave coverage in our SOAR Program at Holten Richmond Middle School.

SOAR is a specialized program serving students in Grades 68 with language-based learning disabilities, including dyslexia. Students benefit from explicit, systematic, and multisensory instruction designed to strengthen literacy, language processing, executive functioning, and academic independence while supporting access to grade-level curriculum.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with special and general educators, related service providers, and families to provide high-quality specially designed instruction and ensure continuity of programming during the teacher's leave.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Provide direct, specially designed instruction in reading, writing, and language using evidence-based structured literacy and multisensory methodologies. Implement students' IEPs and provide instruction aligned with individual goals, accommodations, modifications, and service delivery requirements. Develop and adapt lessons to provide students with meaningful access to grade-level curriculum while addressing identified skill deficits. Collaborate with general educators, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, reading specialists, school psychologists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Integrate executive functioning, organization, and study skills into instruction to promote student independence. Utilize assessment data and progress-monitoring tools to measure student growth and adjust instruction accordingly.

Incorporate assistive technology and other tools that support literacy development, written expression, and academic engagement. Maintain consistent communication with families and participate in IEP Team meetings, staff meetings, and family conferences, as appropriate. Collect and maintain data necessary to monitor progress toward IEP goals and support required progress reporting. Foster a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that promotes student confidence, engagement, and independence. Administer academic assessments, as appropriate, and contribute to comprehensive evaluation reports and the special education evaluation process.
