ABOUT THE ROLE

Arbor Associates is seeking a passionate and skilled Special Education Teacher for a contract placement at a public school in East Longmeadow, MA. This role supports students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other significant and complex learning needs. The right candidate will bring both expertise and compassion — creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment where every student can thrive.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and deliver dynamic, differentiated lessons aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and grounded in Universal Design for Learning principles. Apply Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies to support individual learning and behavioral needs. Provide accommodations and modifications to the general education curriculum using diverse instructional techniques, technology, and student IEP goals. Foster a classroom culture of safety, respect, and belonging that promotes positive academic and social experiences for all students. Collaborate with general educators, specialists, administrators, and support staff to ensure holistic student growth. Communicate proactively with families and caregivers, building strong partnerships in support of each student's success. Write and implement IEPs, goals, objectives, and progress reports; lead annual review meetings with professionalism and care.

QUALIFICATIONS

Licensure /

Certification:

Current Massachusetts DESE license in Moderate and/or Severe Disabilities required. Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement required.

Regulatory Knowledge:

Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state special education laws and regulations.

Experience:

Prior experience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other significant and complex needs required.

Skills:

Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practice.

Other Requirements:

Must successfully complete a background check and any additional screening required by the district prior to placement.
