Qualifications & Experience:
Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI), or eligibility for state licensure Proven experience working with students who have visual impairments, preferably in a school setting Strong understanding of braille instruction, adaptive technology, and accessible curriculum design Excellent communication skills to collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers Demonstrated ability to adapt instructional strategies to individual student needs
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, using specialized teaching methods and materials Assess students' abilities and develop individualized educational plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams Support classroom teachers by offering strategies and resources to ensure students have equitable access to the curriculum Integrate assistive technology and braille literacy into daily instruction Conduct ongoing progress monitoring and participate in IEP meetings to review student goals Serve as an advocate for students and educate staff and families about visual impairments This contract opportunity allows you to impact students' lives every day while benefiting from guaranteed hours and competitive pay.
