Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Bring your expertise in special education to a dynamic intermediate school setting near Nantucket, MA! This full-time contract opportunity is an excellent fit for passionate educators dedicated to supporting students in grades 3-5. You'll have the unique chance to make a meaningful impact from August 31st through June 23rd, fostering growth and learning in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

Active certification as a Special Education Teacher for grades 3-5 Prior experience working in a school-based special education setting Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs), adapted instruction, and differentiated learning techniques Certification or substantial training in Orton-Gillingham (preferred, not required) Commitment to evidence-based literacy and intervention strategies Excellent communication and organizational skills Team-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate with general education staff, support professionals, and families

Key Responsibilities:

Provide targeted and small group instruction for students with diverse learning needs, focusing on academic, behavioral, and social development Adapt curriculum and modify lessons to address IEP goals and objectives Implement specialized instructional techniques, particularly for reading and writing Collaborate closely with grade-level teams, parents, and support staff to tailor learning experiences Maintain accurate documentation related to student progress, IEP compliance, and professional communication Participate in school meetings, professional development, and parent conferences as required
