Job Description

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners as a Special Education Teacher supporting substantially separate classrooms in an elementary school setting near Pittsfield, MA. This full-time contract position offers the opportunity to work with dedicated professionals and provide essential instruction to students with significant cognitive and physical disabilities. Two classrooms are seeking your expertise: one serving Kindergarten to 1st grade, and the other supporting grades 3rd to 5th. Students may be non-verbal and/or on the autism spectrum; some require toileting support. Collaboration with Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) will be part of your daily routine.
Key Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification in Special Education Experience in substantially separate classroom environments strongly preferred Familiarity with specially designed instruction and applied behavior analysis (ABA) Background in supporting students with severe cognitive and physical disabilities Comfortable providing toileting assistance as needed Ability to communicate effectively with non-verbal students Professionalism and compassion in handling confidential or sensitive conditions Open to onsite work and supportive of travel educator opportunities
Core Responsibilities:
Deliver customized instruction for each student based on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Utilize ABA practices to enhance student development and engagement Collaborate closely with RBTs, paraprofessionals, and other specialists Monitor, document, and report on student growth and challenges Foster a safe and inclusive environment where every child feels valued Address self-care and daily living needs, including toileting assistance This contract role suits candidates who thrive in a supportive, mission-driven environment and are committed to helping every student reach their fullest potential.
