Students analyze and create all of the emotional, cultural, logical, symbolic, intuitive and physical aspects embodied in the arts to understand and share its beauty with their communities.

The Visual and Performing Arts Department seeks an Elementary Strings teacher who will teach beginner instrumental strings classes in Grades 4 and 5. There is also an opportunity to lead the building based orchestra. The teacher will report to the school Principal and the K-12 Visual and Performing Arts Curriculum Coordinator.
Job Description/Requirements:
Pedagogical expertise in string instruments and experience teaching beginner level students Ability to implement a standards-based instrumental music curriculum Design inclusive, student-centered learning experiences using Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to ensure access, engagement, and meaningful participation for all learners Ability to lead in the development of a school ensemble, and present concerts showcasing student growth Demonstrate flexibility and compassion, while maintaining high expectations for student achievement Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills and use authentic assessment strategies to monitor student progress Employ instructional methods that motivate students to continue to pursue study in instrumental music Demonstrate proficiency in the use of technology, is very organized and able to responsibly meet professional obligations Willingness to participate in school and/or additional music performances as discussed with the Curriculum Coordinator Reflect a culturally responsive teaching philosophy Minimum of Bachelor of Music DegreePrimary instrument: Violin, Viola, Cello or Bass preferredDESE Licensure required in MusicStrong interpersonal skillsStrong organizational skills Citizenship, residency or work visa required
