Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting a small group of students ages 18-21 in a public, separate day school environment. In this self-contained classroom, youll guide a caseload of just six students with diverse learning, communication, and behavioral needs, fostering independence and growth through an alternate curriculum tailored to each learner. Subjects center around ELA, Math, and Vocational skills, empowering students as they transition toward adulthood. Collaborate daily with 2-3 dedicated support staff and paraeducators, ensuring a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom atmosphere. This assignment carries through the school year and beyond, offering a consistent schedule from 7:30am-3:00pm, Monday through Friday, including a one-hour planning period and a 30-minute, duty-free lunch.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Maryland Special Education Teaching license with High School Endorsement. Strong classroom management and differentiated instruction skills. Proven experience adapting instruction for students with varied communication and behavioral needs. Comfortable developing and implementing alternate curriculum strategies. Collaborates well with para support staff and multidisciplinary teams. Passion for fostering self-advocacy, independence, and life skills in older students.
Key Responsibilities:
