9679354-20783 Job Description Step into a rewarding contract role supporting young adults as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic, supportive self-contained classroom. You'll have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of 18-21-year-old students with diverse learning, communication, and behavioral needs, guiding them through alternate curriculum pathways including ELA, Math, and Vocational skills. Two to three dedicated paraeducators will be alongside you, so collaboration and teamwork are at the heart of this position. In this public separate day school environment, you'll play an essential role fostering growth and independence for each student on your caseload. The classroom is thoughtfully structured for maximum support and student success.
Qualifications:
Maryland Special Education License with High School Endorsement required Previous experience in high school special education settings strongly preferred Knowledge of implementing alternate curriculum and vocational programming Strong ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning profiles Effective communication and collaboration skills
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals in ELA, Math, and Vocational subjects Create and maintain a structured, engaging classroom environment Work closely with 2-3 paraeducators to support student learning and behavioral objectives Develop age-appropriate lesson plans and modify curriculum as needed Monitor progress, complete required documentation, and communicate regularly with families and IEP teams Participate in professional meetings and planning sessions Maintain compliance with state and district requirements This contract runs through June 4, 2027, with a consistent Monday through Friday schedule (7:30am-3:00pm), including dedicated time for planning and a daily duty-free lunch.
