Job Description

Step into a meaningful educational role supporting students with diverse learning needs in a dedicated self-contained classroom setting. This contract opportunity is designed for experienced Special Education professionals passionate about guiding young adults (ages 18-21) as they navigate academic, communication, and behavioral goals. Youll work in a public separate day school environment, fostering growth and life skills that truly make a difference.
Desired Qualifications:
Valid Maryland Special Education Teaching License, with a High School Endorsement Demonstrated experience working with students with learning, communication, and behavioral needs Familiarity with alternate curriculum instruction, specifically in ELA, Math, and Vocational subjects Strong collaboration skills, including effective communication with paraeducators and support staff Ability to develop and implement IEPs tailored to unique student needs
Key Responsibilities:
Instruct a caseload of six students using an alternate, personalized curriculum Teach within a public separate day school for ages 18-21, focusing on academic and vocational progress Collaborate closely with 2-3 para support staff to maintain a supportive, safe, and engaging classroom Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate a variety of learning and communication styles Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and ongoing communication with families and multidisciplinary teams Maintain detailed records, progress notes, and documentation as required by regulatory guidelines This role offers a consistent daytime schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30am-3:00pm, with an hour allotted daily for planning and a 30-minute duty-free lunch. The contract runs through June 4, 2027, providing long-term stability and the opportunity to build lasting relationships with students and colleagues.
