Job Description

Make a meaningful impact as a dedicated Special Education professional supporting students aged 18-21 in a dynamic self-contained public separate day school environment. This rewarding contract role offers the chance to guide a small caseload of six individuals in their educational journey, focusing on alternate curriculum subjects such as English Language Arts, Math, and Vocational skills. The classroom is well-supported, with two to three paraeducators assisting daily, ensuring you can provide individualized attention and effective instruction. Applicants should hold a valid Maryland Special Education teaching license with high school endorsement, bringing experience or strong interest in working with students who have learning, communication, and behavioral needs. The school fosters a collaborative and inclusive atmosphere, empowering educators to utilize their expertise while partnering with a capable support team.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Current Maryland Special Education License with High School Endorsement Experience working with students aged 18-21, especially in alternate curriculum settings Knowledge of instructional strategies for learning, communication, and behavioral needs Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to collaborate with paraeducators and related service staff
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized educational programs for a caseload of six students Teach alternate curriculum subjects: ELA, Math, Vocational Skills Maintain a supportive, structured classroom environment Assess progress and adjust instruction to meet varied student needs Work closely with support staff, parents, and interdisciplinary teams This contract position features a consistent MondayFriday schedule from 7:30am to 3:00pm, including one hour for planning and a duty-free 30-minute lunch. The assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through early June 2027.
