A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Position Overview:
Provide itinerant TVI and consultative services to students with visual impairments across K-12 campuses. Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and deliver direct instruction in Braille, screen readers, low vision aids, and compensatory skills. Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure appropriate accommodations and access to the curriculum. Coordinate with school teams to manage caseload needs, including scheduling, progress updates, and maintain accurate documentation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Education, Visual Impairments, or Special Education Active Maryland Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Certification Prior experience in a school-based or pediatric setting providing direct and consultative services; Braille proficiency strongly preferred Why Join Cross Country Education?
