Job Description

Make a direct impact in the lives of students with special needs in a rewarding, full-time contract role as a Special Education Teacher. Two positions are open for experienced SPED professionals to support students at a middle school site and an elementary location in the Frederick area, starting mid-August through early June. Work within dedicated school communities that value collaborative, student-centered teaching.

What You'll Bring:

Valid and current Special Education Teacher certification in the state, specific to assigned age group(s) Experience supporting students with diverse learning and behavioral needs, ideally in a self-contained or inclusive setting Commitment to differentiated instruction and individualized education plans (IEPs) Strong communication skills to engage with students, staff, and families Adaptability and the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team

Your Key Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and modify lessons to meet a variety of special learning needs in both self-contained and specialized classroom environments Develop and track IEP goals; conduct progress monitoring and update documentation as needed Collaborate closely with families, general education teachers, paraeducators, and specialists Foster a supportive, respectful classroom environment that encourages personal growth and independence Provide proactive classroom management and maintain compliance with district, state, and federal SPED guidelines

Role Details:

Full-time, onsite contract assignment from August 17th through June 4th Oakdale Middle School, Learning for Life program: 7:30am-3:30pm, 15 students Additional elementary site (to be assigned): self-contained classroom, 9:00am-3:30pm, caseload of 10 students Now's your chance to create meaningful change in a supportive environment dedicated to student development.
