Qualifications & Experience:
Valid Maryland Special Education Certification. Previous experience in a self-contained elementary setting preferred. Familiarity with emotional and academic supports, IEP management, and SPED best practices. Ability to implement interventions such as Read 180, iSPIRE, Bridges Program, and Orton-Gillingham, tailored to student needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver instruction and support in a self-contained classroom starting with 5 students, proactively adapting as enrollment grows. Lead curriculum design for PEALS (Program for Emotional & Academic Learning Support). Monitor student progress, set and update IEP goals, and maintain accurate records. Collaborate with paraprofessionals and utilize evidence-based interventions for reading, writing, and math. Participate in IEP meetings (primarily Tuesdays; subject to change).
