9679354-20707 Job Description Make a meaningful difference every day as a Special Education Teacher providing vital support to students aged 18-21 with diverse learning, communication, and behavioral needs. This contract opportunity is based in a dedicated, self-contained classroom setting within a public separate day school. Youll work with a small group of six students, delivering alternate curriculum instruction in ELA, Math, and Vocational topics, with strong para support (2-3 staff) to foster a positive and productive educational environment. Your workdays will run from 7:30am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday, allowing for both a one-hour planning session and a 30-minute, duty-free lunch each day. The assignment runs through June 4, 2027, creating an excellent opportunity to make a lasting impact on your students lives.

Key Qualifications:

Valid Maryland Special Education Teacher License (High School Endorsement required) Experience or interest in supporting students with learning, communication, and behavior needs Strong classroom management and collaboration skills Commitment to adapting alternate curricula for diversified learner needs Ability to work effectively alongside paraeducators and related services staff

Primary Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging instruction in alternate ELA, Math, and Vocational programs to students ages 18-21 Monitor and document student progress, adapting strategies as needed Partner with paraeducators to ensure individualized support for each student Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment Collaborate with families, case managers, and support teams to advance student goals Maintain compliance with IEPs and relevant educational standards Step into a teaching role where your expertise and care will help students achieve new milestones.
