Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference in the lives of young learners as a Special Education Teacher supporting early childhood students in an itinerant role throughout the Silver Spring, MD area. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work closely with a diverse group of children, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure every child receives exceptional support in reaching their academic and developmental goals. Qualifications and Experience:

Current MSDE (Maryland State Department of Education) Special Education Teacher certification is required Experience working with early childhood populations, particularly children with special needs Ability to travel between multiple sites within the workday (no travel restrictions) Strong communication and collaboration skills for partnering with families and educational staff Familiarity with IEP planning, implementation, and progress monitoring Enthusiasm for working in a flexible, changing environment

Core Responsibilities:

Deliver specialized instruction to early childhood students across multiple settings Adapt and modify curriculum and materials to meet individual student needs Conduct assessments, collect data, and monitor student progress Collaborate with general education staff and related service providers Develop and implement effective behavioral and instructional strategies Communicate regularly with families about student progress and needs Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and documentation requirements Travel during contracted hours from one site to another (on the clock for travel between sites) Step into a meaningful role that offers challenge, variety, and the reward of shaping the growth of young learners.
