Eastern Aroostook RSU 39 is currently accepting applications for the following position: Education Technician III - Day Treatment (Grades 4-7) 2026-2027
School Year Location:
Caribou Community School Caribou Community School is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and enthusiastic Education Technician III to support students in the Day Treatment Program for grades 4-7 . The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the classroom teacher and other members of the student-support team to meet students' academic, behavioral, developmental, and social-emotional needs. RSU 39 is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where all students can thrive. We are looking for an individual who values collaboration, builds positive relationships with students, and is committed to supporting student growth and independence. Position Summary Under the direction of a certified teacher, the Education Technician III will provide individualized and small-group support aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), behavior plans, and established classroom procedures. Key Responsibilities Provide individualized and small-group instructional support under the direction of a certified teacher Assist with implementing student IEP goals, accommodations, and behavior plans Support students' academic, communication, behavioral, functional, and social-emotional development Help maintain a structured, safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment Reinforce classroom instruction using strategies established by the teacher and student-support team Collect and document student data to assist with progress monitoring Use approved behavior-support and de-escalation strategies Support students during classroom activities, transitions, meals, recess, and other portions of the school day, as assigned Collaborate with teachers, educational technicians, related service providers, and administrators Maintain accurate records, documentation, and student confidentiality Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school initiatives Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications Current Maine Department of Education Education Technician III authorization or eligibility to obtain authorization High school diploma or equivalent required Education and experience necessary to qualify for Maine Education Technician III authorization Experience supporting students with behavioral, developmental, or diverse learning needs preferred Ability to follow and implement instructional and behavioral plans Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills Patience, flexibility, dependability, and a commitment to student success Current Maine Criminal History Record Check approval or ability to obtain approval
