Job Description

Make a meaningful impact in the upcoming school year by supporting middle school students as an onsite Special Education Teacher. This contract opportunity is tailored for passionate educators interested in working with 6th to 8th graders in a dedicated resource room environment. The assignment runs from August 28, 2026, to June 10, 2027, with a preference for full-time professionals, although part-time applicants will also be considered.

Qualifications & Experience:

Must possess a valid Maine 282 Endorsement (Special Education). Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field required; master's degree preferred. Demonstrated experience working with middle school students, particularly those in special education programs. Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills. Ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs). High level of initiative, patience, and adaptability.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide specialized instruction to small groups or individual students within the resource room. Design and execute lesson plans tailored to students' unique learning needs, in line with IEP goals. Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to monitor student progress and promote academic success. Maintain accurate records, documentation, and compliance with federal, state, and district regulations. Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment. Attend meetings, participate in professional development, and communicate regularly with parents and staff.
