This contract role, based near Allendale, MI, is situated in a dedicated classroom at a local elementary school, where you'll be guiding a small group of students with varying needs in Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE). Initially offered as a part-time position (up to 30 hours per week), there is potential for the role to expand to full-time as new students join the program throughout the year.

Michigan Early Childhood Special Education endorsement is strongly preferred; candidates with other valid special education certifications will also be considered. Background as a Special Education Teacher, especially within early childhood or ECSE settings, is ideal. Confidence in creating and executing individualized lesson plans tailored to diverse abilities. Positive communicator who collaborates well with assistants and other educators. Flexibility to adjust as classroom size and needs evolve throughout the school year. Commitment to remain with students for the full academic year, providing stability and ongoing support.

Key responsibilities:

Lead instruction in your own ECSE classroom, supported by three dedicated assistants. Manage a caseload of approximately six students, with the possibility of additional students enrolling during the year. Develop and implement educational strategies based on individual education plans (IEPs) and best early childhood practices. Collaborate closely with a veteran ECSE teacher and staff to ensure a supportive, consistent environment. Track progress and communicate regularly with families and team members.
