Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in the Athens area of Michigan. This opportunity invites passionate educators to work with either elementary or middle school resource classrooms—please specify your preferred grade level when applying. With immediate start through June 2027, you'll have a consistent, impactful assignment supporting young learners' growth. Responsibilities in this role include providing individualized and small-group instruction, adapting curriculum, and collaborating closely with other educators and families to meet each student's needs. You'll manage a resource classroom with a manageable caseload: 10 elementary or 11 middle school students. Your day-to-day schedule is well-structured, taking place at Athens High School (7:35 a.m. - 2:40 p.m.) or East Leroy Elementary (7:55 a.m. - 3:10 p.m.), depending on your chosen age group. Expect to deliver targeted interventions and support students to foster both academic and social-emotional development in an inclusive setting.
Key Qualifications:
Active and valid Michigan Special Education Teacher License (please provide proof with your application) Experience in resource settings strongly preferred Skills in curriculum adaptation and progress monitoring Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families Strong commitment to student advocacy and empowerment Comfortable with students in elementary or middle school—specify your preferred placement
