OF VACANCY
POSITION:

Special Education Teacher

REPORTS TO

Building Principal

STARTING DATE

Immediately

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Special Education Endorsement.

Graduate of a recognized college or university.

Highly Qualified, as defined by the Michigan Department of Education.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Current certification in district-approved crisis de-escalation and non-violent physical intervention (i.e., CPI, Safety-Care).

Full endorsement in Emotional Impairment (SE) under

MARSE R 340.1787.

Master's Degree in Special Education or related field.

Two to three years of experience providing behavioral intervention, PBIS, or teaching in an early elementary special education setting.

Sound knowledge of Michigan Special Education Rules, including

R340.1706

(Emotional Impairment Criteria), R 340.1741 (EI Programs), R 340.1721b (Timelines), and

R 340.1781/R 340.1783

(Teacher Endorsement/Approvals).

Deep understanding of early childhood behavior modification, PBIS, FBA/BIP formulation, trauma-informed practices, and developmentally appropriate co-regulation.

Proficiency in data-driven decision-making, daily behavioral tracking systems, and converting behavioral data into actionable IEP goals.

Strong early elementary pedagogy skills, with the ability to deliver foundational academic instruction (phonics, early math) integrated with social-emotional skill-building.

SALARY:

As per the contract.
