Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract If you're passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of students, this special education teaching opportunity near Coldwater, MI, could be the perfect fit. These contract roles are tailored for resource classroom teachers, with two openings supporting either elementary or middle school students. Please indicate your preference when applying. You'll be part of a dedicated team, providing academic and behavioral support to a manageable caseload—10 students at the elementary level and 11 at the middle school level. The assignment runs from as soon as possible through June 10, 2027 (tentatively), offering stability and continuity for both you and your students. Expect a weekly commitment of 35 hours, following either a 7:35 a.m. - 2:40 p.m. schedule at Athens High School or a 7:55 a.m. - 3:10 p.m. schedule at East Leroy Elementary.
Key Qualifications:
Valid and active Michigan Special Education teaching license (required; please include copy or screenshot when applying) Experience working in resource classrooms preferred Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to design differentiated instruction for a range of abilities Passion for supporting students' diverse academic and social-emotional needs
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage a resource classroom, developing and implementing IEPs tailored to each student Employ evidence-based instructional strategies Collaborate with general education teachers, related service staff, and families Track student progress and adjust plans as needed Foster an inclusive, positive environment that encourages all learners This position includes a competitive pay rate of $80.00 per hour, reflecting the high value placed on your expertise and dedication.
