A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Assignment Details Contract Dates:
August 24, 2026 through June 4, 2027Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00PM Hours:
32.5 hours per week (6.5-hour days, including a 30-minute lunch)Setting:
High School (Grades 9 to 12)Caseload:
Approximately 34 students (20 virtual, 14 in-person) Opportunity to work in both traditional and virtual classroom settings Responsibilities Provide instruction and support to students with special education needs Manage caseload across in-person and virtual learning environments Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Collaborate with school staff, families, and support teams Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with state guidelines Requirements Active Michigan Special Education Teacher License (MDE) Fingerprinting and background clearance required Experience in a high school or similar setting preferred Strong organizational and communication skillsWhat We Offer:
