The ideal candidate will bring history, geography, civics, and economics to life for young adolescents, fostering curiosity about the world and preparing students to be informed, engaged citizens. Both early-career and experienced educators are encouraged to apply and join our collaborative, student-centered school community. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver standards-aligned lessons in history, geography, civics, and economics. Encourage critical thinking, inquiry, and discussion to help students connect past and present events. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners. Assess student understanding regularly and adjust instruction to close gaps and extend learning. Create a respectful, inclusive classroom that values diverse perspectives and student voice. Partner with colleagues, support staff, and families to promote academic and social growth. Participate in professional learning and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education or a Social Studies-related field (master's degree preferred). Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with middle-level Social Studies endorsement (RX). Daily substitutes, or full-time substitute permits are not eligible for this posting. Knowledge of effective social studies instruction and adolescent development.
