State of Michigan Teacher's Certification with an endorsement of Learning Disabilities (SM) or enrolled in alternate certification (like #TEACH)
JOB RESPONSIBILITES
Provide a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students Create an atmosphere of academic learning where student voice and ownership of learning is a priority Share the responsibility for driving best instructional practices as outlined and in compliance with 5D+ evaluation tool and Common Core Standards Serve as an innovative instructional leader who communicates the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Special Ed Dept to all students and parents/guardians, with a high level of integrity and fidelity Engage students using best practices for populations and programs that include but are not limited to Title I, Students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), Multi-Tiered Support Systems (MTSS), 504 plans and English Language Learners (ELL) Participate in opportunities to support student activities after school hours. Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/ABILITIES
Ability to engage students of diverse backgrounds and learning abilities Strong organizational skills, the ability to multi-task efficiently and prioritize the completion of work in a timely manner Outstanding written and verbal communication skills Knowledgeable about instructional assessment strategies, instructional technology, learning pedagogies, PBIS, and restorative practices Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, demonstrate self-discipline and initiative, follow federal, state, and district guidelines Support students and instruction in co-taught classroom environments and guide learning process toward the achievement of standards and IEP goals Facilitate learning in the classroom (e.g., maintain discipline, encourage participation, consult with parents, school staff, and other care providers to identify and address social, emotional, and developmental needs) Maintain accurate records and document student progress Diagnostic testing relating to special education eligibility, seeking the assistance of district and ISD specialists as required Interested individuals should email resume, letter of intent, and 3 references/recommendation letters to: Melissa Bradfield Vandercook Lake Public Schools 1000 E.
