Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. Manage classroom behavior effectively using evidence-based behavior management techniques, creating a positive learning environment for all students. Collaborate closely with speech therapists, behavioral health specialists, parents, and other educational professionals to support individualized education plans (IEPs) and ensure consistent student progress. Conduct ongoing assessments of student development through standardized testing, formative evaluations, and progress reports; adjust teaching strategies accordingly. Maintain detailed documentation of student achievements, IEP goals, behavioral interventions, and communication with families to ensure transparency and compliance with special education law. Mentor and support fellow teachers and teaching assistants by sharing best practices in childhood development, classroom management, and inclusive education strategies. Experience Proven classroom experience in early childhood education or elementary school settings with a focus on special education or developmental disabilities. Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, literacy education, math instruction, and the integration of educational technology tools. Strong background working with students with autism spectrum disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, or other disabilities; experience implementing behavioral therapy techniques is highly desirable. Knowledge of IEP processes, special education law, instructional modifications, and behavior management strategies for students with diverse needs. Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including speech therapists, behavioral health professionals, parents, and other educators to support student success. Familiarity with preschool or Montessori methods is a plus; previous private school experience is advantageous. Excellent communication skills for effective parent-teacher engagement and team collaboration; ability to mentor colleagues is preferred.
