Full-Time Position Summary The Gaming and Technology Academy of Saginaw (GATA) is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Special Education (SPED) Teacher to join its team. The SPED Teacher is responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities to help them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. This position works with students who may have physical, mental, emotional, or learning disabilities and collaborates closely with parents, general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and other support staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Essential Duties and Responsibilities Accountability Develop compliant Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) designed to promote measurable student growth. Implement IEPs and assess and track individual student performance and progress. Update IEPs throughout the school year to accurately reflect student progress and goals. Assess students' skills and individual needs to guide the development of IEPs and instructional plans. Develop and analyze the effectiveness of positive behavior intervention and support plans that address students' communication, social skills, and sensory needs. Ensure required accommodations and supports are in place for state and district assessments. Supervise state and district assessments as indicated by students' IEPs. Use formative assessment data to adjust and modify instruction. Analyze progress reports to determine instructional effectiveness and student growth. Communication Effectively communicate student progress in both oral and written formats with school staff, parents, and agency partners. Ensure appropriate communication with staff, parents, and agency partners regarding meetings and student needs. Collaborate with families, general education teachers, support staff, and other professionals involved in providing services to students with disabilities. Curriculum and Instruction Plan, organize, and assign instructional activities that support progress toward students' IEP goals. Deliver instruction based on differentiated curricular and individual student needs. Teach and mentor students in whole-class, small-group, and one-on-one settings. Modify instruction as necessary based on student performance and assessment data. Personnel Supervise and mentor paraprofessionals working within the classroom to support students with disabilities. Provide appropriate direction to paraprofessionals regarding instructional and student-support responsibilities. School Culture and Student Support Follow and support The Concord Creed as the core of the school's culture and discipline plan. Help provide and maintain a safe learning environment for students. Support students' academic, social, and emotional development. Scheduling and Program Coordination Develop and manage service schedules for students with IEPs. Ensure appropriate implementation of student services according to established schedules. Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars to communicate or obtain information required for the position. Perform other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Master's Degree in Education or Special Education required. Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in at least one area of Special Education. Minimum of two (2) years of prior experience teaching school-aged children with special needs. Ability to develop, implement, monitor, and update Individualized Education Programs. Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, educators, paraprofessionals, and agency partners. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
