Qualifications:
1. A valid Michigan teaching certificate and an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood-General and Special Education birth - kindergarten (ZN) Birth-K, or Lower Elementary EducationPK-3PK-3
(ZO) endorsement; or 2. A bachelor's degree in early childhood education or child development with a specialization in preschool teaching. The transcript will document a major, rather than a minor, in child development or early childhood education; or 3. The Lead Teacher is responsible for the planning, supervision, and implementation of a developmentally appropriate early childhood program in order to meet the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs of the children in the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP)Job Responsibilities:
- Know and follow all State of Michigan licensing guidelines.
- Lead, implement, and utilize HighScope and COR Advantage on a daily basis.
- Plan individual and group activities to stimulate growth in literacy, language, mathematics, science, social, and motor skills. Encourage children to express themselves creatively in art, music, movement, and dramatic play.
- Develop and use instructional materials suitable for a learning environment for children with a wide range of cognitive, physical, and emotional maturity.
- Supporting the classroom through a posted daily routine and adjusting daily routines to accommodate their student's needs
- Plan in accordance with GSRP performance standards as set forth in the implementation manual.
- Model Conscious Discipline in your classroom by providing a welcoming and supportive climate to establish and reinforce acceptable child behavior, attitudes, and social skills.
- Create an effective and stimulating work environment for learning that meets the standards set forth in the Preschool Program Quality Assessment (P.Q.A.)
- Maintain a routine schedule of observations, data collection, data input, and interpretation.
- Communicate regularly with parents by means of a newsletter, messages, phone calls, home visits, and individual parent conferences.
- Promote parent participation and involvement in education activities provided for their children. Attend one family night.
- Conduct and evaluate Early Childhood Screener (Ages and Stages).
- Participate in professional development and training as required by licensing, the SJCISD, etc.
- Participate in staff meetings.
- Obtain and Maintain CPR and First Aid Certification
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
