A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. Responsibilities Provide Early Childhood Special Education services to children from birth through age 3 in home, childcare, and ECFE settings. Conduct developmental assessments and help identify individual learning and support needs. Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) as appropriate. Collaborate closely with families, caregivers, childcare providers, and multidisciplinary team members. Deliver developmentally appropriate interventions that support communication, social-emotional, cognitive, adaptive, and motor skill development. Maintain accurate documentation, progress monitoring, and compliance records. Participate in team meetings, evaluations, and family-centered planning sessions. Support successful transitions between early intervention and school-based services when needed. Qualifications Valid Minnesota Early Childhood Special Education Teaching License or eligibility for Minnesota licensure. Experience working with infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children preferred. Knowledge of child development, early intervention practices, and special education regulations. Experience developing and implementing IFSPs and/or IEPs preferred. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
