St. Louis, MO Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Parent-teacher conferences (communication methods) Full Job Description Job Overview Lafayette Classical Academy seeks an exceptional Math Teacher / Intervention Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year. This role combines classroom instruction in Calculus and Math 6 with targeted math intervention for students in grades 1-8. The ideal candidate is a skilled mathematician and a patient diagnostician. They should be able to challenge advanced students and help struggling students build lasting mastery, all within a learning environment that encourages students to appreciate and embrace what is good, true, and beautiful.

Head of School | Position type: full-time Key Accountabilities Classroom Instruction Teach Calculus and Math 6, delivering rigorous, well-sequenced lessons aligned with the school's curriculum and scope and sequence. Build both procedural fluency and conceptual understanding through explicit instruction, guided practice, and frequent review. Assess student learning regularly, maintain accurate and timely grades, and use results to adjust instruction. Cultivate an orderly, respectful classroom where students take ownership of their work and persevere through difficult problems. Math Intervention (Grades 1-8) Lead Math 6 Intervention, giving students who need more time and instruction structured support to master grade-level content. Identify students in grades 1-8 who need intervention, using screening, diagnostic, and classroom data. Do this together with classroom teachers and academic leadership. Design and deliver targeted small-group and individual intervention plans with clear goals and timelines. Monitor student progress at regular intervals, document results, and adjust, continue, or conclude intervention based on the data. Equip classroom teachers with strategies to support struggling learners during regular math instruction. Collaboration and Communication Communicate proactively with parents about student progress, intervention goals, and ways to support learning at home. Report intervention outcomes to academic leadership each [quarter / trimester / semester]. Collaborate with colleagues to align intervention work with classroom instruction across grade levels. Professional Responsibilities Participate fully in professional development in classical pedagogy and in the faculty evaluation cycle. Fulfill shared supervisory duties as assigned (e.g., car line, lunch, recess). Model the school's virtues in conduct with students, families, and colleagues. Qualifications for the Ideal Math Teacher / Intervention Specialist Mathematical Expertise Strong command of mathematics through Calculus, with the ability to explain foundational concepts clearly to young learners. Intervention Experience Experience diagnosing learning gaps and delivering targeted math intervention is strongly preferred. Passion for Classical Education Deep appreciation for classical education and its focus on developing critical thinking and intellectual virtues. Motivated and Inspiring A passionate, self-motivated individual with a genuine interest in encouraging and inspiring students to reach their full potential. Communication and Organizational Skills Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills to manage the classroom, engage students, communicate with parents, and collaborate with colleagues. Ability to keep accurate records and manage a schedule that serves multiple grade levels. Educational Qualifications A bachelor's degree in mathematics, education, or a related field. Classical training is preferred but not required.
