Job Description

Step into a meaningful opportunity supporting students in a dedicated, self-contained special education classroom. In this contract role, you'll work with a small group of five students at the elementary and middle school level, supported by two engaged teaching assistants. This position is ideal for experienced special educators who enjoy fostering individualized growth and building strong connections within their classroom community.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
Current Mississippi
SPED K-12
teaching license required Experience working as a special education teacher in elementary or middle settings preferred Strong classroom management skills and ability to tailor instruction to each student's needs Passion for collaboration and a team-based approach in educational environments Effective communication skills with students, staff, and families
Role Responsibilities:
Provide instruction to a self-contained class of five students, adapting lessons as necessary Oversee and collaborate daily with two classroom teaching assistants Identify and implement appropriate interventions and instructional strategies to maximize student achievement Track progress, develop IEP goals, and maintain thorough documentation Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment that encourages learning and positive behavior Liaise regularly with school staff and parents to support student success Adhere to district guidelines, school policies, and best practices in special education
