Special Education Teacher (Self-Contained K-8)

$47.00 - $50.00 per hour (Based on Experience)

Monday-Friday, School Hours Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join a supportive school team in Charlotte, North Carolina. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction to students in a self-contained K-8 classroom , creating an inclusive and structured learning environment that supports academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth. The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized educational programs, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring students receive the support needed to achieve their educational goals. Key Responsibilities Provide direct instruction to students in a self-contained K-8 special education classroom. Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students. Conduct assessments and collect data to track student progress toward IEP goals. Maintain accurate and compliant special education documentation. Implement positive behavior support strategies and classroom management techniques. Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families. Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions. Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and needs. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Special Education or related field. Active North Carolina Special Education Teaching License or ability to obtain one. Experience working with K-8 students in a self-contained setting preferred. Knowledge of
IDEA, IEP
development, and special education compliance requirements. Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting students with diverse learning, behavioral, and developmental needs. Familiarity with data-driven instruction and progress monitoring.
