Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher supporting K-8 students in a dynamic educational setting near High Point, NC. With multiple positions available for the 2026/2027 academic year, you'll work with diverse learners in inclusive and resource classroom environments, helping drive meaningful progress for students who are learning below grade level. This role offers the chance to contribute to an innovative Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) program from its inception, making a tangible difference in students' academic and emotional growth.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
North Carolina General Curriculum Certificate for K-12 (must have) Experience as a Special Education Teacher (elementary and middle grades preferred) Familiarity with inclusive classrooms, resource models, and differentiated instruction Strong understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and accommodations Ability to work collaboratively with general educators, specialists, and families
Key Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction to students with a variety of needs in K-8 settings, with caseloads typically ranging from 15-20 (maximum 25) Implement and adapt curriculum content to support students performing approximately three grade levels below their peers Develop, monitor, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Lead and participate in the launch and integration of the new Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) program Gather data and communicate student progress regularly with parents, teachers, and support staff Cultivate a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment
