A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Full Job Description Hours:
2:30 pm-6:00 pm Monday-Friday We are currently searching for an individual with experience working with children grades K-5th grade. Our staff hours range from 2:30pm-6pm Monday through Friday.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Certificate. Must have experience in working with school age children. Certifications and Requirements for
Hire:
Teachers must be willing and able to complete First Aid/CPR Certification upon hire. Teachers must submit to standard background check.
Duties Include:
  • Cooperate with the Director and other staff members to insure a comfortable working environment for the staff and children.
  • Maintain rooms and equipment and letting the Director know of needed repairs or replaced equipment
  • Cooperate with other church groups who share the school care areas
  • Supervise children on playground during outside play time and supervise indoor activities and crafts
  • Assist children as needed in homework room (helping with reading, writing and math)
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Arrive for shifts on time
  • Inform Director in cases of unreasonable behavior, parent complaints, or other problems that should be handled by the Director in the best interest of the program
  • Light janitorial duties daily. Weekly bathroom janitorial work.
  • Provide first aid/CPR to any child as needed
  • Help prepare and serve snack daily
  • Be flexible and available to do extra or different duties as needed
  • Must use appropriate language and discuss appropriate topics with children and parents
  • Most important is to be present, positive, and prepared for the children at all times.
