A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description
- Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make an immediate impact in special education classrooms by supporting students' academic and social growth in a variety of engaging settings.
Qualifications:
Active EC General Curriculum license (required; Adapted Curriculum not accepted) Compliance with standard district credentialing, including valid Georgia/State EC License and background check Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teamsFor Davis Townsend Elementary:
experience or high comfort supporting students with autism in self-contained, maximum-support classrooms strictly teaching the general curriculumFor Silver Valley Elementary:
ability to consistently work the part-time schedule (Monday—Thursday, 8:45 AM-1:45 PM) serving K-2 studentsKey Role Details:
