This full school-year contract position offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact by providing targeted instruction and building life-long independence for students in a specialized high school environment. The ideal candidate brings substantial hands-on experience running Life Skills or self-contained special education classrooms at the high school level. This is a highly specialized role beyond general resource room teaching, requiring expertise in functional academics and adaptive care. Qualifications and Experience Valid State Special Education Teaching License Past experience leading a High School Life Skills program or comparable self-contained classroom Demonstrated skill in developing and overseeing IEPs, functional goal-setting, and individualized programming Proven track record in high school transition planning, daily living instruction, and personalized academic support Strong team leadership abilities, including supervising paraprofessional staff Role Responsibilities Provide specialized, differentiated instruction in daily living skills, functional academics, and personal independence Foster a supportive classroom environment tailored to unique learner needs and abilities Collaborate with paraprofessionals to deliver comprehensive care and instruction Design and maintain effective IEPs, focusing on functional goals and post-secondary planning Support students in developing practical skills for community integration and future transitions Bring your expertise and passion to a district dedicated to preparing students for successful, independent futures.
