Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

By working closely with schools, we aim to contribute to the success and well-being of both educators and students. We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children who have special needs and creating a supportive learning environment. This position is a full-time position for the 26/27 school year and is located at
Sandown North Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs Provide instruction tailored to the individual needs and abilities of students Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to support student learning and development Utilize a variety of teaching methods to engage students and enhance their learning experience Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and social development
Skills:
Experience in childcare or education settings Knowledge of behavioral health principles and practices Ability to incorporate speech therapy techniques into instruction Proficiency in curriculum development and lesson planning Understanding of learning technology tools for educational purposes Strong background in special education practices and strategies Knowledge of physical education adaptations for students with special needs Ability to manage a diverse classroom effectively
Qualifications:
Experience working with and teaching students in special education settings Knowledge of IEP development and implementation Proficiency in curriculum development for diverse learning needs Strong classroom management skills in special education environments Familiarity with learning technology for special education Background in early childhood education or related field Background Check and Fingerprinting required!
