Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Discover the rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact as a paraprofessional in a supportive educational environment near Edison, NJ. Three full-time contract positions are available, with immediate start dates and the potential to extend through the summer ESY program. This is an excellent chance to work closely with students and educators while furthering your skills in special education.
Position Details:
Full-time, 30 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8:25am-2:25pm) Contract runs through June 22, 2027, with options to extend through the ESY program (July-August 2027) Support assigned students through arrival, breakfast, morning meetings, classroom activities, special classes, lunch, recess, transitions, field trips, and dismissal
Qualifications & Experience:
Experience or strong interest in working as a paraprofessional within school settings Ability to provide patient, compassionate support to students with diverse needs Familiarity with implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and behavior/safety plans Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, best practices for emotional regulation, crisis de-escalation, and positive reinforcement (NuView's Ukeru, CBI, etc.) Excellent collaboration and communication skills Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver instructional support under the direction of the classroom teacher, assisting with prompting, redirection, organizational tasks, and promoting independence Implement and monitor academic, behavioral, and safety plans for assigned students Provide consistent supervision throughout the school day, including during teacher planning periods or until relieved by another staff member Observe, document, and report academic or behavioral data to the educational and clinical teams Proactively request additional support when a student's needs exceed routine assistance Ready to play a vital role in a student's educational journey? and start making a difference that truly matters!
