Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference as a Special Education Teacher working with elementary school students in a contract role based near Elizabeth, NJ. This opportunity offers the chance to collaborate across multiple schools within a supportive district environment. You will provide services to a diverse caseload of approximately 30 to 40 students, focusing on delivering high-quality instruction and meaningful educational assessments. This full-time position runs through the end of the 2026-2027 school year, with hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The home base is Colonial Middle School, but direct services are provided at four designated locations.

Key Qualifications:

New Jersey Teaching Certification in Special Education/Learning Disability Teacher-Consultant required Strong background in conducting student evaluations essential Experience working with elementary school caseloads (30-40 students) Familiarity with IEP development and implementation NJ Tech Cert also required Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

Deliver individualized and group instruction per IEP and educational plans Conduct thorough evaluations for special education eligibility and ongoing progress Collaborate with multiple site teams to support students across different schools Document and track student progress, following state and district guidelines Work closely with families, support staff, and service providers Travel between assigned school buildings as needed during the school week Working as part of a dedicated team, you'll have the support you need to help students thrive academically and socially.
