A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

School Year Description:
Fort Lee Public Schools is seeking a Learning Disability Teacher Consultant (LDTC) for the 2026 - 2027
School Year Qualifications:
Must hold a NJ Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant (LDTC) Certification. Experience serving on a Child Study Team in a public school setting preferred. Knowledge of
IDEA, N.J.A.C. 6A
14, special education procedures, and Child Study Team responsibilities. Experience conducting comprehensive educational evaluations and interpreting assessment data. Demonstrated experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other diverse learning needs preferred. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, and staff. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Working Conditions:
Full time, tenure track, 10 month position, with benefits Salary range: Based on FLEA salary guide which ranges between $64,375 and $121,709, commensurate with experience.
Position Start Date:
September 1, 2026 plus NTO.
