A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description

Ivy Primary Prep strives to set a new standard for early childhood education with small class sizes and interactive learning methods. Ivy Primary Prep offers a nurturing environment for our students during their most critical years. By implementing high standards, for both staff and our Little Ivies, we assist in the progression of curiosity and confidence that children need to be socially and academically prepared for school. We expose our students to various extracurricular activities and introduce them to a meticulous school curriculum. As an Ivy Primary Prep Teacher you will be responsible for implementing our curriculum that promotes social, emotional and physical development in each of our young students in accordance with NJ Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards.
Essential Functions:
Plan and maintain a well-organized, safe, clean, learning environment under the guidelines of Ivy Primary's curriculum. Follow weekly lesson plans and other activities for the classroom. Implements curriculum according to each child's unique needs. Log and report daily child attendance and meal counts and submit designated content. Documents each child's development and maintains an up to date record in each child's portfolio. Conduct developmental screenings, parent conferences and ongoing assessments within the required time frames. Developing positive relationships with parents and families through effective and professional written and verbal communication. Participation in Teacher meetings and Professional Development as required. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Record Check Preferred:
Bachelors or Masters in Early Childhood Education or related field Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a school or early childhood program
