Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a real impact supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher in a contract position beginning November 2, 2026, and ending March 25, 2027. This rewarding assignment supports a small group of self-contained students near Mahwah, NJ, with the possibility of an earlier start date in mid-October, depending on circumstances. This unique schedule features an AM and PM session, each with just three students, allowing for focused, individualized instruction and meaningful relationships.
Qualifications:
Valid teaching credentials in Special Education Experience teaching students in self-contained classrooms or similar individualized settings Genuine commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with colleagues and families Adaptability and creativity in delivering personalized lessons
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement customized instruction for two small groups: 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and 12:50 p.m. - 3:20 p.m. Develop engaging lesson plans and modify materials to meet each student's unique needs Track and document student progress, collaborating with support staff and families as needed Establish a positive, respectful atmosphere that encourages student growth and self-confidence Contribute to IEP development and review processes, ensuring compliance with district and state guidelines This position provides an exceptional opportunity to connect with students in an intimate setting, crafting meaningful learning experiences and making a difference every single day.
