A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description

Position Purpose Essential Functions Responsible for planning and delivering effective lessons to students of young ages in order to develop their knowledge of Islam Creating suitable lesson plans, assessing student progress, and providing feedback to ensure that students are achieving their learning goals Promotes a classroom environment that is safe, warm, and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning. Teaching standard-based instruction with proficiency Teaching with an appreciation for the richness of Islamic Heritage and Culture Knowledge of best practices and implementation of differentiated instructional strategies Fostering continued growth of established school culture Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities Demonstrate high level of knowledge and skill in subject area Organizes and effectively communicates class/course objectives, standards, and requirements for success Provides guidance and assistance to students as needed in order to ensure appropriate assimilation of the course content in an effort to support student success and achievement. Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
