A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description

InHealth Staffing is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Middle School Self-Contained Autism Teacher to support students in Grades 6-8 . The teacher will provide specialized instruction in a structured classroom setting while supporting students' academic, behavioral, social, and communication needs. Responsibilities Provide individualized instruction aligned with students' IEP goals and needs. Develop and implement engaging, differentiated lessons for students with autism and other disabilities. Create a structured, supportive, and positive classroom environment. Implement behavior support strategies and collaborate with the Child Study Team and related service providers. Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation. Communicate effectively with families, school staff, and service providers. Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of appropriate educational goals. Support students in developing academic, social, communication, and functional skills. Qualifications NJ Teacher Certification in Special Education or appropriate NJ certification required. Experience working with students with autism and/or significant disabilities preferred. Experience in a self-contained special education classroom preferred. Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills. Compassionate, patient, and committed to supporting student success.
